Sam Christie | Project Manager | KusasaSam Christie is a project manager for the Shuttleworth Foundation, in charge of the Kusasa project. He manages content development, testing, and implementation phases of internal projects for the Foundation. This includes managing communications between stakeholders and the facilitation of both local and international reference groups. Sam completed a degree in electrical engineering at the University of Cape Town, after which he worked both locally and abroad in the fields of telecommunications and software development. Now a father to two small boys, Sam's predominant pastime is resting and indulging in time at the beach. His areas of interest include history, society and technology with an emphasis on simplicity and usability. |

Mark Horner | Project Manager | SiyavulaMark Horner is a project manager at the Shuttleworth Foundation, in charge of the Siyavula project. He co-ordinates the development of a comprehensive set of Open Educational Resources (OER) supporting the National Curriculum. This relies on the development of communities to create and support the OERs as well as the provision of platforms for development. Mark believes in the liberation of information and supporting education in South Africa. He is one of the co-founders of the Free High School Science Texts (FHSST) project which is funded by the Foundation and was launched in 2002. Mark has a PhD in physics from the University of Cape Town and conducted his research at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in California on the results from the STAR experiment at Brookhaven National Laboratory in New York. |
